Sorry I haven't posted lately. The Swine Flu closing made the end of the schoolyear even more hectic than usual. I promised my students I would post some of our work from the unit we worked on with Ms Kate. Grade 2 students worked on writing the song "Sweet Trees Alive" as a public service announcement. It gives some thoughts about why trees are important.
We chose "Sweet Caroline" as the melody because it is something everyone can sing.Then, we brainstormed a list of ideas about what we had learned about trees.
Next, we worked on choosing which ideas we could use or rephrase to fit with the melody.
Finally, we practiced and recorded the song.
